The Canadian cement, concrete, and construction material industry includes about 1,300 employer establishments (single-location companies and units of multi-location companies) with combined annual revenue of about $10 billion. The industry is dominated by large foreign companies with Canadian operations, such as CRH (Ireland), St Mary’s Cement Group (a subsidiary of Brazil-based Votorantim Cimentos), and Lehigh Hanson (a subsidiary of Germany-based HeidelbergCement). Leading domestic companies include BURNCO and Beton Provincial. Most Canadian companies are small: more than 95% have fewer than 100 employees.
